During severe weather events, like tornadoes, our facility will serve as a shelter for those without a safe place.
We have a large basement with plenty of room for large groups, including a sensory room for those who may need a quieter space to stay safe in.
Things to Know:
Opening
Whenever there is a possibility of severe weather, we have a dedicated team monitoring the storms to ensure we are prepared. Our goal is to open our building during a tornado watch and provide people with enough time to arrive safely. Occasionally, a tornado watch may be issued hours before any severe weather is expected to impact our area, so we will assess the optimal time to open and keep the community informed through our social media pages.
Pet Policy:
We ask that you please leave your pets at home.
We understand that people care deeply for their pets; however, our main priority is to provide a safe environment for everyone seeking shelter. Due to limited space, allergy concerns, and liability issues, we are unable to accommodate pets. We appreciate your cooperation in adhering to these policies. Thank you for your understanding.
Entrances
There are multiple entrances to the building. If you are unfamiliar with our building, you can view the location in advance before the storm hits.
Entrance #1: This entrance is located on the alley side of the building and is accessible for individuals with disabilities. Go down the hallway until you see a ramp going down to the basement.
Entrance #2: Back door. Once inside, go all the way down the hallway, then down the stairs
Entrance #3(Recommended): The front door is the fastest way to the basement. You can immediately go down the stairs.
Entrance #4: Lobby entrance. Once inside, go to the left and down the ramp leading into the basement
